Better late then never is what I say. The weekend of November 23rd is our new launch date for the marathon, a little late but who cares, eh?
So, how did the first episode strike you? Read on for things I picked up on....
Since Jack is always so fucking bad ass I figured I might talk about the only other reason to watch the show: Kim.
First off: I hate Kim's new haircut, she looks like a god damn sheepdog.
Second, are we supposed to believe that in three short years she's transofmed herself into some super genius that understands encryption schemes and is capable of supporting the backbone of CTU? I guess the writers thought so.
And WTF is this about her banging Jack's new partner, I mean, come on I'm much better looking than that guy, and a better actor (ask Wombat about my award).
Another point of contention that has nothing to do with Kim: why wouldn't Jack go to de-tox if he became a junkie while undercover with drug dealers? Why wouldn't CTU brass force him to? Come on, if "everyone knows" what they did to him in there - why wouldn't someone step up and say something. And I'm sure they weren't holding a fucking gun to his head when he did his first hit of heroin, or Bart Simpson as the homies like to call it. Plus, haven't they seen trainspotting? Even a man with the willpower and strength of Jack can't be expected to quit H cold fucking turkey...
Blah, I still liked the first episode, and I expect this season to be as good if not better than the first two. See you during the marathon!

The evil empire has decided that our heroes might not have mincus' 61" Sony Projection tv (pictured in my first post) back in time for our scheduled event. This saddens me greatly, but mark my words, good will prevail!

While thinking about peripheral things to do while watching all 48 episodes, mincus suggested grabbing a pen and paper and keeping track of certain things that go on during the show. Below are a list of things that I've come up with off the top of my head, feel free to add suggestions in the comments section.
Also, I just found out that our friend Amanda will be joining us for this marathon, good luck Amanda, you get 100-1(mostly because you have a long drive ;)).
The number of times the characters go to the bathroom.
Everyone's gotta pee sometime, right? Or, maybe those are the mundane things that the characters are doing off screen while Jack is saving the world.
The number of times Kim's nipples are hard.
Fun and exciting.
The number of times Jack is doubted by everyone, even his closed friends, but proven right in the end.
A bit convoluded but I'm sure it happens more than 10 times over the length of the series.
The number of times there is an awkward sexual silence between two characters.
I think this happens more in the second season, but it'll be fun to look for in the first.
I was watching LOTR last night and I barely made it through... the beginning started off so slow! The end of it was bad-ass though and I was glad I resisted the temptation to just rest my eyes for a bit. But this brings up serious issues... I need a game plan on how I’m going to make it through out marathon.
So i did a little searching and found a page titled Temporary Insomnia Made Easy, Made Fun!. I would have gone about it all wrong - I was going to stock up on soda for my caffeine intake, but it looks like i should just go with coffee, black. Hopefully the tips on this page will help me make it through.
Also, it hasn’t been mentioned before, but tragedy has stuck my television and it’s completely dead. I do have a warranty for it... but to make use of it I have to call them... a daunting task. But i suppose unless i want to ruin the festivities (ruiner!). I had better get on it.
Here are some odds that I've come up with off the time of my head. Keep in mind that these are not Vegas odds, I am a completely amatuer handicapper. I will take bets up to 2 dollars on any of these ;). These are based on the people so far who are intending to attend and finish the marathon. I will go over some of the more interesting bets that might take place.

I know her well, and my bet is that she can't finish. It is a definate longshot, but she might be able to pull season one off.
mincus will finish all 48 episodes - 8 to 1
By his own admission, he falls asleep while watching TV on a normal day. But, this is no normal day, I'm betting he'll get through at least season one.
shftleft will finish all 48 episodes - 5 to 1
30+ hours is a stretch for anyone. I seem to be the most excited about this event, so I'm betting that I last the longest, but all 48 episodes, that remains to be seen.
